Camphor (Cinnamomum camphora) is a terpene (organic compound) that’s commonly used in creams, ointments, and lotions. Camphor oil is the oil extracted from the wood of camphor trees and processed by steam distillation. Camphor is currently made out of turpentine which has a strong odor and taste and is easily absorbed through the skin.
Uses:
- Relieve Pain - Applying camphor to the skin helps to relieve pain and inflammation. A spray containing natural ingredients such as Camphor, menthol, and essential oils of Clove and Eucalyptus was effective in relieving mild to moderate pain. You may feel a tingling, warming, or cooling sensation when you use camphor products. Apply a camphor spray or ointment to the affected area several times per day.
